Supplier Quality Development Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Tokyo or Gotemba, Japan; up to 40% business travel for domestic and international supplier site visits, audits, and quality improvement activities.

What you will do

• Execute supplier qualification processes, including on-site audits of quality systems, manufacturing processes, and product compliance.
• Monitor supplier performance against KPIs and lead Supplier Improvement Plans, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
• Lead root cause analysis for supplier issues and customer complaints, eliminating recurring quality risks.
• Execute Manufacturing Validation activities, including PPAP, and identify supply chain quality risks.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as WCM, Six Sigma, and P-FMEA.
• Collaborate with Supplier Management, Engineering, D&T, Project Management, Logistics, Procurement, and regional stakeholders on supplier strategy, NPI, and strategic projects.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in supplier quality management, supplier development, quality assurance, or quality control within manufacturing.
• Experience with supplier audits, PPAP, and corrective action management.
• Hands-on experience with machining, welding, and fabrication processes.
• Fluent English in written and spoken communication.
• Strong organization, self-direction, and flexibility for up to 40% business travel.

Nice to have

• Welding expertise, including VT Level 2 certification.
• Experience in multinational environments or consulting.
