What you will do

• Drive 99.99% call completion and lead incident command and postmortem discipline.
• Establish and own SLOs and error budgets from scratch for high-impact services.
• Develop platform services for auto-remediation, capacity forecasting, and oncall tooling using Go or TypeScript.
• Execute capacity planning and load testing to manage provider rate limits and concurrency.
• Manage Kubernetes production operations, including HPA/VPA tuning and pod crash diagnosis.
• Implement and tune autoscaling patterns using KEDA and custom metrics.

Requirements

• Experience running incident command and postmortem processes at scale within a real oncall rotation.
• Proficiency operating SLOs and error budgets using Prometheus, Chronosphere, Grafana, or Datadog.
• Proven track record in capacity planning and load testing for production systems with real users.
• Expertise in Kubernetes production ops (PodDisruptionBudgets, HPA/VPA tuning, graceful shutdown).
• Knowledge of backpressure and autoscaling patterns such as KEDA.
• Must be based in San Francisco for hybrid work.

Nice to have

• Ability to build platform services in Go or TypeScript rather than just writing scripts.
• Experience with real-time or latency-sensitive products where degradation causes immediate service failure.
