What you will do

• Lead technical research on behaviour-aware optimisation for urban cycling logistics.
• Perform empirical analysis of courier movement data and spatial modelling of urban risk exposure.
• Develop and evaluate routing and policy strategies using simulation-based methods.
• Contribute to high-impact publications in leading transportation and operations research journals.
• Translate research results into practical outputs and tools for industrial and municipal partners.

Requirements

• PhD in operations research, transportation, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong research background in mathematical optimisation, simulation, or behavioural modelling for mobility.
• Proficiency in Python and experience working with geospatial and large movement datasets.
• Record of first-author publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
• Ability to relocate to the Netherlands.

Nice to have

• Prior experience with routing, dispatch, or last-mile logistics.
• Experience with discrete choice or stated-preference modelling.
• Familiarity with platform-mediated work or cycling safety.
• Proven track record of turning academic research into working tools.
