Senior Software Development Engineer / Principal Software Development Engineer (AI)

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with a flexible hybrid arrangement requiring at least 50% of time each quarter in the office or in the field. Additional US locations are also listed.

Annual base salary: 168,000–252,000 CAD for Vancouver. Additional US location ranges are listed separately.

What you will do

• Lead technical design decisions for the AI Model Serving platform, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Design, implement, and operate large-scale systems for moving machine learning models into production.
• Guide the evolution of the production model registry used by machine learning teams.
• Build and improve abstractions for vendor-hosted LLMs, traditional ML models, and internally hosted models.
• Scale continuous integration pipelines, respond to alerts, and debug production issues.
• Write design documents, review code, document systems, and collaborate with software engineers, ML engineers, and data scientists.

Requirements

• 6+ years of related software development experience for the Senior level, or 10+ years for the Principal level, including large-scale distributed systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Deep experience designing, building, and scaling production-grade distributed systems.
• Deep proficiency in Python and experience with Python-based production frameworks.
• Experience with LLMs and traditional ML models, including production serving, scaling, and monitoring.
• Strong written and verbal communication, mentoring, design documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ray Serve, GCP, AWS Bedrock, Gemini, model registries, or open-source LLM hosting.
• Product-oriented experience shaping infrastructure platform vision and cost governance.
