TL;DR

Hardware Architect - Power Electronics (Robotics): Designing and implementing power distribution, power electronics, and actuation electrical hardware for advanced robotic platforms with an accent on energy delivery and board-level realization. Focus on architecting AC-DC/DC-DC conversion, managing power budgets, and leading PCB design from schematic to validation.

Location: Onsite in Warren, Michigan. Eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

  • Define power and actuation electrical architectures, including distribution strategies, voltage domains, and protected power paths.
  • Architect and validate power electronics including AC-DC, DC-DC conversion, and battery interfaces.
  • Lead PCB hardware design from schematic capture through layout collaboration, fabrication, and validation.
  • Develop and maintain power budgets, load analyses, and efficiency targets.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to integrate PCB assemblies into robotic enclosures.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, EMC, and internal engineering guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Must be based in or able to relocate to Warren, Michigan.
  • Proven experience in power distribution design, power electronics, and PCB-based electrical hardware development.
  • Strong understanding of power conversion topologies and PCB design best practices.
  • Proficiency with ECAD tools such as Altium Designer or OrCAD.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing power and actuation hardware for robotics, automation, or industrial systems.
  • Experience with high-current, high-power, or battery-powered systems.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards (UL, CE, ISO 13849).
  • Experience using simulation tools such as SPICE or MATLAB/Simulink.
