What you will do

  • Manage the full equipment lifecycle including procurement, installation, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), calibration, and decommissioning.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and lead root cause investigations to implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate maintenance and calibration activities across internal stakeholders and external service vendors to minimize workflow impact.
  • Author equipment specifications, user requirements, and qualification protocols while maintaining compliant documentation.
  • Ensure all processes and equipment meet quality standards such as CLIA, CAP, and FDA regulations.
  • Support cross-functional efforts for new equipment onboarding, lab expansions, and obsolescence planning.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in an Engineering field or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in equipment or reliability engineering within a highly regulated environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience developing equipment qualification plans and calibration strategies.
  • Hands-on familiarity with lab instrumentation and preventive maintenance standards.
  • Must be based in or able to work onsite in San Diego, CA.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Nice to have

  • Experience with sequencing assays and automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (e.g., SAP, Limble) and LIMS integration.
  • Working knowledge of root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, or FMEA.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt (SSGB) or other reliability certifications.
