TL;DR

Bioinformatics Analyst (Genomics): Developing and optimizing high‑performance, cloud‑ready genomic pipelines with an accent on reproducibility and scalability. Location: Remote (Canada) or Hybrid (Toronto). Must be eligible to work in Canada

Salary: $70,000 – $95,000

What you will do

  • Develop and optimize scalable genomic pipelines using WDL, Docker, and cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Collaborate with academic and industry partners to process and harmonize diverse genomics datasets.
  • Validate analysis methods using tools like GATK, bcftools, samtools, and VEP.
  • Support workflows for various -omics data types, including WGS, WES, RNA-seq, and proteomics.
  • Act as a technical bridge between external partners and internal product teams to implement tailored recommendations.
  • Synthesize customer feedback to influence product direction and scientific strategy.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building and running NGS analysis pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Python (preferred), R, SQL, Java, or bash.
  • Experience with workflow languages like WDL, CWL, Nextflow, or Snakemake.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Strong background in biology/genetics with proven research and critical thinking skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with clinical genomics, ACMG variant interpretation, or diagnostic pipelines.
  • Familiarity with public datasets (gnomAD, TCGA, ENCODE) and FAIR data principles.
  • Experience with spatial deconvolution or multi-modal single-cell integration.
  • Wet lab experience in genomics, such as sequencing library prep or assay design.
