What you will do

• Lead the design and development of Java backend microservices and REST APIs within a cloud-native AWS architecture.
• Own PostgreSQL schema design, query optimization, and data access layers.
• Implement Elasticsearch/OpenSearch index structures and query patterns for search-driven features.
• Build and maintain containerized services on AWS ECS with robust logging, metrics, and health checks.
• Design and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines and contribute to infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
• Mentor junior-mid level developers through pairing and constructive code reviews.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of professional backend web development experience.
• Deep hands-on experience with Java, including concurrency and performance considerations.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, and AWS services (S3, SNS, SQS, RDS).
• Working experience with Python for backend development or scripting.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spring Boot and event-driven architectures (Kafka, SNS, SQS).
• AWS certifications (Developer or Solutions Architect).
• Experience working in a SAFe Agile environment.
• Experience with Tier-2 production support and security vulnerability remediation.
