What you will do

• Survey emerging sensing technologies to identify modalities that expand vehicle defect coverage.
• Prototype with new hardware, build small-scale datasets, and train modality-specific models.
• Run controlled experiments to benchmark new modalities against the current inspection stack.
• Develop multi-modal fusion approaches to combine new and existing sensors for improved detection.
• Recommend modalities for product integration and partner with R&D and product teams.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in sensor-based ML, computer vision, or signal processing.
• Hands-on experience with at least one non-RGB modality (thermal, depth, radar, lidar, hyperspectral, acoustic, or event-based).
• Strong proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience designing experimental protocols and building datasets from scratch.
• Comfortable working with physical hardware, vendors, and experimental setups.

Nice to have

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
• Publications or patents in sensing, perception, or related fields.
