What you will do

• Provide independent oversight of the project control environment to ensure alignment between governance, delivery, and commercial position.
• Assure the integrity of Risk, Decision, Action, and Assumption Registers, as well as the Project Programme.
• Verify that the project can provide evidence-based answers regarding current position, cost, forecast, and corrective control.
• Challenge optimism bias, incomplete information, and misalignment between site reality and reported programme/cost.
• Monitor escalation thresholds and produce independent assurance reports and exception summaries for governance.
• Ensure correct and timely application of Early Warnings and Compensation Events under NEC4 Option C.

Requirements

• Experience in project controls, governance, assurance, or commercial/change control on infrastructure or construction projects.
• Strong understanding of risk, decision, cost, and programme control.
• Ability to interrogate complex data and challenge inconsistencies across multiple sources.
• Strong communication skills for structured reporting and engagement with senior leadership.
• Location: Must be based in or be able to commute to Bathgate, UK

Nice to have

• Experience with NEC contracts, particularly Option C.
• Experience working in Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) environments.
• Background in PMO, planning, or commercial assurance.
• Familiarity with stage-gate governance frameworks.
