What you will do

• Advise on regulatory issues including product licensing, marketing restrictions, and AML/CTF compliance across African markets.
• Draft strategic plans and submissions for regulatory authorities and respond to official enquiries.
• Provide legal guidance to product and marketing teams regarding campaign scope and product offerings.
• Develop and manage legal and compliance programs in collaboration with local teams.
• Monitor legal developments to provide proactive strategic advice and foster organizational compliance.
• Manage relationships with external law firms and key industry stakeholders.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice in South Africa or a common law jurisdiction.
• 8+ years of post-qualification experience at top-tier law firms or financial institutions.
• Proven experience advising financial institutions, banks, or payment platforms on regulatory matters.
• Strong research, analytical, and document drafting capabilities.
• Excellent written and spoken English proficiency.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, fluid environment.

• Familiarity with AI tools for legal research and documentation.
• Background in contentious legal matters.
