TL;DR
Senior IaaS / Kubernetes Platform Engineer (Kubernetes): Designing and operating a private cloud and multi-tenant Kubernetes platform with an accent on KubeVirt VM orchestration, Ceph distributed storage, and bare-metal automation. Focus on evolving infrastructure from OpenNebula to a Kubernetes-native cloud, implementing GitOps-driven workflows, and ensuring high reliability through SRE practices.
Location: Worldwide Remote. Must have already relocated from Russia/Belarus.
Salary: $6,000 – $10,000 / month net

What you will do
- Design and operate a multi-tenant Kubernetes platform using Cluster API, vCluster, and KubeVirt for VM orchestration.
- Manage and optimize Ceph distributed storage clusters and implement high-performance storage tiering (NVMe, LINSTOR/DRBD).
- Configure overlay networks, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, and maintain site-to-site IPSec connectivity between datacenters.
- Implement SRE disciplines, including SLO/SLI design, error budgets, and chaos engineering experiments.
- Automate bare-metal provisioning and fleet management using Terraform/OpenTofu, Ansible, and Foreman.
- Build self-service infrastructure capabilities via Crossplane and GitOps-driven configurations (ArgoCD/Flux).
Requirements
- 5+ years in infrastructure/platform engineering; 3+ years operating production Kubernetes platforms.
- Production experience with KubeVirt, Cluster API, Cilium/Calico, and Rook-Ceph at scale (100+ OSDs).
- Deep Linux systems knowledge, including kernel tuning, networking stack, and Ceph cluster operations.
- Proficiency in Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible for production-scale infrastructure.
- Experience with bare-metal infrastructure (IPMI, PXE boot, RAID) and networking fundamentals (BGP, VLAN).
- English: B2+ proficiency required for technical documentation and cross-team communication.
Nice to have
- Experience with vCluster, Crossplane, or Policy-as-Code (Kyverno, OPA Gatekeeper).
- Container security expertise (Falco, Sigstore/cosign, Kata Containers).
- Experience with immutable OS (Talos, Flatcar) or OpenNebula migration.
- Programming skills in Go or Python for building infrastructure tooling.
- Experience with Juniper JunOS switch configuration.
