Senior Data Scientist (AI Engineering): Building and scaling production AI systems and shared infrastructure for an education platform with an accent on MLOps and productionalizing AI workflows. Focus on designing scalable inference services, implementing RAG patterns, and ensuring operational reliability of ML pipelines on AWS.

Location: Hybrid in Budapest, Hungary (Onsite collaboration required Tuesday and Wednesday; Thursday strongly encouraged)

Salary: HUF 1.6M – 2.2M per month

What you will do

• Architect and deploy production ML/AI systems for customer-facing product capabilities
• Design and operate scalable inference services, APIs, and backend components
• Build and optimize data, feature, deployment, and orchestration pipelines on AWS
• Implement MLOps practices including CI/CD, versioning, testing, monitoring, and rollback
• Define evaluation frameworks for model quality, latency, and cost to improve performance
• Collaborate with product and research teams to transition prototypes into robust scalable services

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering, ML engineering, or applied AI engineering
• Proven track record of taking ML/AI systems from prototype to production in live environments
• Strong experience with AWS, deployment pipelines, CI/CD, and orchestration
• Proficiency in building APIs and services (Python preferred) and working with containers
• Working knowledge of modern AI patterns such as embeddings, retrieval, semantic search, or RAG
• Must be based in Budapest, Hungary for regular onsite collaboration

Nice to have

• Experience with vector databases, retrieval infrastructure, or semantic indexing pipelines
• Knowledge of graph databases or graph-based reasoning systems
• Experience with LLM observability, quality metrics, and drift analysis
• Background in education technology or knowledge/skills modeling
• Experience mentoring engineers in a high-growth environment
