Data Support Engineer

Focus on maintaining data reliability, optimizing support workflows, and bridging the gap between L1 support and core Data Engineering teams.

What you will do

• Triage and resolve data-related support tickets escalated from L1 helpdesk.
• Independently fix recurring issues including data lineage, access permissions, and ETL job failures.
• Route complex technical cases to the appropriate Data Engineering teams with clear diagnostic context.
• Monitor data alerts from GCP and observability tools to proactively identify system issues.
• Maintain and contribute to technical runbooks and troubleshooting documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine escalation criteria and improve data operations.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in Data Support, Data Operations, or Data Engineering.
• Strong SQL proficiency for writing, debugging, and optimizing complex queries.
• Hands-on experience with BigQuery and GCP data services.
• Practical knowledge of Git, GitHub, and CI/CD workflows.
• Basic Python skills for reading ETL code and running diagnostic scripts.
• Upper-intermediate English (B2+) required for team communication.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with dbt project structure and troubleshooting dbt failures.
• Experience with data observability tools like Monte Carlo or PagerDuty.
