Software Engineer (VFX)

What you will do

• Write scalable, robust code using custom internal libraries.
• Troubleshoot software issues and provide technical support to a wide range of production users.
• Deliver pragmatic solutions in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and teammates to strategize and implement the best technical solutions.
• Manage coding, testing, integration, and release cycles to ensure production stability.

Requirements

• Strong Python development skills or experience with a similar programming language.
• Experience developing within DCC tools, such as Houdini or Autodesk Maya.
• Familiarity with Git version control systems.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, including architecture, design patterns, and various testing methodologies.
• Must be an NZ/AU resident or citizen living in Wellington, or open to relocation to New Zealand.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with developers, leadership, and non-technical staff.

Nice to have

• Experience with other scripting languages such as C++, C#, or Java.
• Experience with desktop GUI frameworks such as Qt.
• Experience in API development with a focus on performance, stability, and scalability.
• Background in Visual Effects or video game development.
