Location: Hybrid (Must be based in Portugal and able to occasionally visit the office in Coimbra)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for a cloud-hosted PBX platform.
• Contribute to architecture decisions focusing on scalability, reliability, maintainability, and observability.
• Perform data-led analysis to drive system performance improvements, including profiling and capacity planning.
• Debug and resolve complex technical issues in production and pre-production environments.
• Collaborate with QA teams to define functional and performance test strategies.
• Write clean, unit-tested code and mentor other engineers through technical reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Recent professional experience programming in Python.
• Experience with Linux-based development, Nginx, and Tomcat.
• Solid understanding of HTTP/HTTPS and building/consuming APIs.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational database schema design.
• Must be able to occasionally visit the office in Coimbra, Portugal.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Perl, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Go.
• Hands-on experience with asyncio, aiohttp, or dramatiq.
• Experience with observability tools such as Elasticsearch and Grafana.
