TL;DR

Embedded Engineer (Operating System): Designing and implementing embedded software for prototype and consumer AR products with an accent on kernel development, resource allocation, and system architecture. Focus on building performant and energy-efficient solutions for Snap OS and Spectacles hardware.

Location: Vienna. Must work in office 4+ days per week

A technology company specializing in visual communication and augmented reality through Snapchat, Lens Studio, and Spectacles AR glasses.

What you will do

  • Lead or participate in the design, architecture, and implementation of embedded software for prototype and shipping consumer products.
  • Design and implement system components at all layers, including kernel, synchronization primitives, resource allocators, memory management, security, and I/O systems.
  • Develop and optimize software for Camera and Audio subsystems.
  • Participate in design and code reviews with peers and stakeholders to ensure reliable solutions.
  • Triage and resolve complex product or system issues by analyzing root causes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with embedded software development and ARM architecture.
  • Proficiency in programming with C or C++.
  • Experience with BSP, Operating Systems, or Embedded Linux (AOSP, Yocto, Buildroot).
  • Experience with build systems such as Cmake, Autotools, GNU make, or Ninja.
  • Ability to work from the Vienna office 4+ days per week.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
