TL;DR
Senior Backend Engineer (Go): Developing Grafana’s next-generation storage layer and unified engine for finding and querying data with an accent on scalability and reliability of distributed systems. Focus on designing, building, and operating critical cloud-native systems using a Kubernetes-inspired Operator pattern.
Location: Must be based in the UK, Germany, Spain, Ireland or Sweden
Salary: €97,000 – €121,000 (Base compensation for Germany)

What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain critical systems, owning their reliability, performance, and availability.
- Develop the next-generation storage layer (Unified Storage) and a unified search engine for finding and querying data.
- Influence the product roadmap and drive projects from initial ideation to customer operations.
- Collaborate with the team in a fully remote setup and mentor other engineers.
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure service availability.
- Contribute to the open-source ecosystem and other relevant projects.
Requirements
- Solid experience with the Go programming language.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with large distributed systems.
- Experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or systems engineering.
- Ability to deliver projects independently from gathering requirements to shipping a product.
- Must be based in the UK, Germany, Spain, Ireland or Sweden.
- Strong communication skills and an independent attitude for a remote-first environment.
Nice to have
- Experience as a user of Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles.
- Familiarity with SRE tasks or the concept of infrastructure as code (IaC).
