What you will do

• Design and maintain scalable backend microservices and distributed systems using Java.
• Develop high-availability components for a SaaS multi-cloud backup and recovery platform.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, QA, and DevOps teams throughout the SDLC.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while following engineering best practices.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a strong internal engineering culture.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong expertise in Java.
• Experience building scalable backend systems, APIs, and distributed applications.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and microservices architecture.
• Must be based in or able to work in a hybrid setup in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
• Good written and spoken English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with backup, storage, infrastructure, or data protection products.
• Familiarity with distributed messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience building and using AI tools and systems.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, ransomware protection, or disaster recovery concepts.
