What you will do

• Execute the PCP metrics pipeline to assess how hardware updates impact 3D scene understanding and localization performance.
• Design and conduct structured A/B testing experiments and tandem vehicle data collection for winter ODD validation.
• Collaborate with Autonomous Hardware Engineering to correlate sensor lab tests with downstream perception performance.
• Perform root cause analysis on detection regressions to understand modality degradation in challenging environments.
• Develop efficient multi-sensor fusion models to improve perception performance for highways and adverse weather.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in C++ and Python for metrics pipelines and automated testing.
• Experience with A/B testing methodology (Risk Balanced Verification) for hardware/software evaluation.
• Familiarity with how environmental factors like snow or fog degrade bounding box precision, point clouds, and 3D occupancy.
• Ability to define complex data collection plans for winter ODDs (ice, low temperatures, specific snow types).
• Experience deploying multi-modality fusion models for 3D object detection, segmentation, mapping, and localization.
• Must be based in or able to work from Foster City, CA or Boston, MA.

Nice to have

• Performance optimization for low-power edge compute (e.g., Nvidia Thor, TensorRT).
• Experience designing sensors or ML models specifically for anomaly and rare event detection.
