Senior Java Developer

TL;DR

Senior Java Developer (hirify.global Horizon): Maintaining and enhancing ticketing and visitor management system with an accent on code standards, full lifecycle service ownership, and cloud scalability. Focus on implementing features, writing complex SQL queries, performing alpha testing, and collaborating on deployments.

Location: Milan, Italy. Primarily in-office with flexible hybrid schedule (1-2 days remote). Up to 20% global travel to client sites may be required.

What you will do

• Maintain existing software code to high standards
• Document new features and bug fixes
• Assist with upgrades, training, and implementations
• Perform alpha testing of new code
• Own full lifecycle of services including deployment and production operations
• Collaborate with other engineering teams

Requirements

• 5+ years relevant experience (or equivalent skills)
• Experience with Java or similar OO language (e.g., C#)
• Experience with JSP technologies
• Experience with relational databases like Microsoft SQL, including complex queries
• Knowledge of cloud methodologies (high availability, scalability, fault-tolerance)
• Familiarity with XML and JSON
• Experience writing unit tests for Java applications
• Ability to work in teams or independently
• Experience with Scrum practices

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases
