Hardware Project Lead (Automotive)

TL;DR

Hardware Project Lead (Automotive): Manage intelligent cockpit development projects and lead cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical engineering, validation, procurement, and quality with an accent on hardware deliverables, BOM ownership, and project execution from RFQ to production launch. Focus on mitigating risks, optimizing scope/schedule/resources, driving technical analysis/design/development/testing, and ensuring profitability through cost improvements and supplier strategies.

Location: Ariake - Tokyo, Japan (Hybrid, willing to travel up to 10% domestic and international)

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional teams to deliver hardware for customer projects on time, in quality, and within cost.
• Own project from RFQ to production launch, including BOM, ED&D, CAPEX, and resource allocation for EBIT targets.
• Collaborate with functional groups and source team to define requirements, suppliers, benchmarking, and profitability.
• Manage dependencies, risks, changes, escalations, and maturity gate reviews.
• Drive technical phases from analysis to post-implementation and align HW-PL targets with cost initiatives.
• Track metrics, communicate status/issues/risks to stakeholders, and implement projects with CPM and other teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or equivalent
• 12+ years of experience leading automotive projects
• Previous experience leading project or engineering teams
• Experience in leading electro-mechanical system development covering thermal requirements
• Knowledge in PLM methodologies, PM processes in project execution and management
• Willing to travel up to 10%, domestic and international; clean driving record; pass background investigation

Nice to have

• Masters in electrical engineering or equivalent
• Experience in developing Infotainment and ADAS platforms
• Exposure to Hardware, RF and Thermal simulations in automotive
• Broad intercultural experience and excellent communication skills
• Certification as Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar
