What you will do

• Define a 12-24 month technical roadmap to align, upgrade, and enhance system capabilities.
• Lead the architectural design of complex cross-functional systems, ensuring the robot layer integrates with AI algorithms.
• Establish standards for code quality, testing rigor, and observability across the stack.
• Act as a technical bridge between Robot Software and Hardware, Simulation, and DevOps teams.
• Mentor and grow Senior and Staff engineers through coaching and principled decision-making.
• Provide high-level steering for R&D projects and perform deep-dive investments on critical path blockers.

Requirements

• Deep experience in Robotics Middleware (ROS2, Cyber RT, or custom IPCs) and Real-Time Systems.
• Mastery of C++ (17/20) with a focus on memory management and concurrency.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Proven track record of shipping complex autonomous systems, distributed systems, or safety-critical embedded software.
• Ability to debug complex problems across the hardware-software boundary.
• Must be based in Sunnyvale, California for a hybrid work arrangement.
