Education Officer

TL;DR

Education Officer (Humanitarian): Oversee day-to-day implementation of education projects in conflict-affected South Sudan with an accent on teacher training, psycho-social support, and child protection. Focus on conducting school-level needs assessments, monitoring activities, and building capacity of education staff and assistants.

Location: Akobo, South Sudan (onsite duty station with regular field travel)

What you will do

• Implement education activities including teacher training, PSS, recreation, and capacity building under team leader direction.
• Supervise education assistants, monitor project progress, and ensure adherence to work plans and log frames.
• Conduct needs assessments, data collection, analysis, and reporting for education projects.
• Oversee procurement, distributions, spending tracking, and logistics coordination for training materials and school needs.
• Liaise with local authorities, teachers, headmasters, communities, and stakeholders to maintain positive relations.
• Travel regularly to field sites to support and monitor activities.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Akobo, South Sudan with ability to travel in volatile contexts
• Experience in humanitarian/recovery contexts, especially education, PSS, or child protection for conflict-affected children.
• University/advanced degree preferred or significant field experience; knowledge of teacher training curricula and methodologies.
• Experience leading/facilitating trainings, supervising teams, and working with children/educators.
• Knowledge of English, Arabic, and local languages; solid MS Office skills
• Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, handle insecure environments, and work independently/team.

• CED-level experience.
