Principal Solar Manufacturing Engineer (Space)

Salary: $175,000–$200,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Define and own the manufacturing strategy for solar modules, photovoltaic arrays, and integrated wing assemblies.
• Drive design-for-manufacturing decisions at the architecture and concept stages.
• Own process qualification records, tooling design standards, and assembly process specifications.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action for manufacturing anomalies, non-conformances, and systemic build issues.
• Evaluate and implement automation, advanced metrology, bonding, and lamination technologies.
• Mentor solar manufacturing engineers and represent manufacturing engineering in executive, customer, design, and build reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, materials, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing, production, or hands-on engineering.
• Recognized technical authority in solar manufacturing and photovoltaic array integration.
• Demonstrated experience influencing product architecture through design for manufacturability.
• Experience owning manufacturing technical baselines through major design changes or production transitions.
• Ability to lead and develop engineers and influence Design, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production without direct authority.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling solar or high-reliability electromechanical hardware to full-rate production.
• Advanced manufacturing automation experience, including robotic assembly or vision-guided systems.
• Experience with space-grade solar arrays, deployment mechanisms, or flight power systems.
• Knowledge of reliability physics, photovoltaic radiation effects, or space-environment qualification testing.
