Simulation Software Engineer (Aerospace): Create and maintain simulation software infrastructure for 20kW+ spacecraft with an accent on physics-based models of subsystems including propulsion, attitude control, power, and communications. Focus on performing constellation capability analyses, developing rapid deployment tools, and resolving on-orbit anomalies.
Location: Los Angeles, CA. U.S. Person required per ITAR export control regulations.
Salary: $123,000 - $200,000 + equity

What you will do
- Develop physics-based software models of spacecraft subsystems including propulsion, attitude control, power, and communications.
- Perform analyses of constellation capabilities and performance to support business and engineering decisions like network coverage and beam planning.
- Create robust tools for rapid deployment of quality code and support integration/testing of subsystems.
- Conduct data analysis and anomaly investigations to resolve on-orbit problems.
- Generalize simulation architecture for testing multiple spacecraft and design many-agent simulations for constellation operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in physics, aerospace/mechanical/electrical engineering, computer science, math, or STEM field, or 3+ years professional experience in software engineering.
- Development experience in Rust, C++, or similar compiled language.
- Experience using scientific Python (NumPy, SciPy), Julia, MATLAB, or similar.
- Coursework or experience in numerical methods, ordinary differential equations, and mechanics.
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) per ITAR.
Nice to have
- 3+ years professional experience in software engineering.
- Master’s or PhD in physics, aerospace engineering, or STEM field.
- Experience working in Rust production environments, defining simulation systems, Monte Carlo simulations, linear algebra, controls, orbital mechanics.
- Basic knowledge of electronics, Linux, computer architecture, space communication modeling, CI/CD systems.
