We are seeking a highly skilled Animation Lead to oversee and drive the creation of high-quality character animations for a Dark Fantasy ARPG project. This role combines hands-on animation work with leadership responsibilities, including defining workflows, setting quality standards, and mentoring a team. The position starts as part-time with the potential to transition into full-time.
🚀 Responsibilities
• Create high-quality character animations including humanoid and creature movement
• Develop and refine cloth and hair animations for realism
• Rework and improve existing animations to meet quality standards
• Ensure animations follow Unreal Engine conventions and best practices
• Define and implement animation guidelines for the team
• Establish efficient workflows and optimize the animation pipeline
• Mentor and coach team members to support their growth
• Review animation work and provide structured feedback
• Distribute tasks across the animation team effectively
• Collaborate with riggers and assist with basic rigging tasks
• Maintain understanding of animation implementation in Unreal Engine
📚 Required Skills
• Experience with animation of anime-style characters
• Strong portfolio demonstrating character animation and motion dynamics
• High proficiency in Maya
• Strong competence with Cascadeur
• Basic understanding of Unreal Engine animation systems
• Proven experience leading animation teams
• Ability to provide clear feedback and maintain quality standards
• Strong communication skills and proactive mindset
👍 Nice to Have
• Understanding of technical animation in Unreal Engine
• Experience with scripting in Maya using Python or MEL
