Senior Software Engineer (Elasticsearch)

Senior Software Engineer (Elasticsearch/Scala): Developing and optimizing the Search and Category Merchandising product for a global e-commerce platform with an accent on search relevance algorithms and AI-powered initiatives. Focus on architecting scalable backend services, integrating semantic search, and improving infrastructure performance using Apache Flink and AWS.

What you will do

• Build and enhance features within the hirify.global Search engine.
• Develop search relevance algorithms and identify optimization opportunities via analytics.
• Evolve search infrastructure and DevOps processes for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Design internal and external APIs and architect new services and systems.
• Collaborate with SRE, Data & AI, and Front End teams using a lean, iterative process.
• Provide technical leadership, drive architectural decisions, and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Scala (primary), Java, and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Strong experience with Elasticsearch and Apache Flink.
• Knowledge of AWS infrastructure managed with Terraform.
• Proven experience in technical leadership and system architecture.
• Location: Must be able to work in a hybrid model from the Helsinki or Salzburg offices.
