We’re supporting a Tokyo-based deep-tech startup building a graph + neuro-symbolic reasoning engine for enterprise, safety-critical domains — on-prem, auditable, controlled.

Now hiring: Senior Backend Engineer.

What you’ll do
Build core backend services for a distributed reasoning system
Own key components (reliability, scalability, performance)
Work on systems that process and reason about code / programming languages
Partner with research + product on architecture and implementationЭ

What matters
5+ years in software engineering, incl. 2+ years with Rust
Strong backend + system design fundamentals
Experience with complex systems (distributed, AI/ML infra, high-load, etc.)
Ownership mindset + solid production practices
Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
English C1+

Nice to have
Automated reasoning / dev tools / AI systems, startup experience, C++ or Python.

Conditions
Relocation to Tokyo is required (no remote option). Full visa sponsorship and relocation package.
Salary: $105k–145k gross/year
Additional: up to 25 paid days off/year, overseas health insurance compensation, English/Japanese language training support.
