What you will do
- Govern the enterprise operating model and capability architecture for security operations across the University.
- Lead capability maturity management by establishing baselines and directing prioritized improvement initiatives.
- Oversee continuous monitoring of information systems to detect and manage cyber threats in alignment with NIST CSF.
- Develop and manage the SOC operating budget, including forecasting and cost-benefit analysis.
- Direct the deployment and management of SIEM, SOAR, and EDR infrastructure.
- Collaborate with national bodies like the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) and other higher-education partners.
Requirements
- Post-graduate degree.
- Minimum of 11 years of related experience, including at least 5 years of managerial experience.
- 4 years of specialized experience in the design and implementation of major computer systems.
- Experience managing 24/7 operational environments and leading technical teams through high-pressure crises.
- Strong commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Nice to have
- Professional certifications such as CISM, GIAC GSLC, or CISSP.
- Subject matter expertise in two or more cybersecurity disciplines.
- Demonstrated expertise in NIST Cyber Security Framework 2.0 and PCI-DSS.
- Knowledge of BC public sector protection and compliance under BC FIPPA.
