TL;DR

Project Assistant (Child Protection): Managing and overseeing operations within Child Friendly Spaces to provide psychosocial support and recreational activities for children with an accent on case identification, referrals, and protection awareness. Focus on facilitating PFA and GPM+ sessions, monitoring child well-being, and strengthening child protection mechanisms in refugee settings.

Location: Onsite in Nakivale, Isingiro District, Uganda

What you will do

  • Manage and oversee all operations within the Child Friendly Space (CFS).
  • Provide technical support and immediate emotional support, including Psychological First Aid (PFA), to displaced children.
  • Facilitate GPM+ sessions and lead protection awareness initiatives on CP, PSS, and GBV at the community level.
  • Conduct regular case follow-ups, identify concerns, and manage referrals with strict confidentiality and a "do no harm" approach.
  • Maintain accurate, disaggregated records of beneficiary attendance for all implementation activities.
  • Collaborate with community workers, CBOs, and stakeholders to strengthen child protection mechanisms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Child Protection, Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).
  • Proficiency in at least 2 of the following languages: Kinyarwanda, Kinyabwisha, and Kiswahili.
  • Knowledge of procedures and guidelines for transit centres and Child Friendly Spaces is a significant advantage.
