Fire Surveyor

Location: Dublin, Ireland; regular travel to client sites across the UK and Ireland with likely overnight stays

What you will do

• Carry out active and passive fire protection surveys and prepare technical reports.
• Attend construction sites to inspect compliance with Fire Safety Certificate-approved designs and agreed inspection plans.
• Perform external wall, façade, fire stopping, fire compartmentation and visual fire door surveys.
• Assess compliance with Irish fire safety legislation, Technical Guidance Document B, BS 9991, BS 9999 and related standards.
• Review contractor responses, provide technical guidance and close out inspection findings.
• Manage a client base, support licensing inspections and deliver CPD presentations when required.

Requirements

• Degree in Building Surveying or a similar discipline, or equivalent site-based experience.
• Full Irish driving licence and access to a private vehicle required.
• Basic understanding of fire safety design, guidance and risk within different building types.
• Ability to write technical reports using digital software and Microsoft Word.
• Knowledge of construction methods, external wall fire performance, cavity barriers, passive fire protection products and fire-testing regimes.
• Ability to work independently, manage workloads and advise contractors on refurbishment and construction projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with intrusive external wall surveys on new and existing buildings.
• Experience with fire compartmentation surveys and internal fire stopping installations.
• Basic knowledge of fire risk assessments and experience with high-rise residential, office, retail or historic buildings.
