What you will do

• Manage the end-to-end editorial process, including manuscript selection and peer review coordination.
• Shape the strategic direction and content development for the new Nature Mechanical Engineering journal.
• Commission and edit specialized content such as Reviews, Perspectives, and Comments.
• Collaborate extensively with editorial teams across the Nature portfolio.
• Represent the journal at professional conferences and visit key research institutions.

Requirements

• PhD degree with a strong research track record in fields relevant to mechanical engineering.
• Broad scientific knowledge and the ability to quickly master new research areas.
• Excellent literary and communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid model from Berlin, Heidelberg, Milan, or Madrid.

Nice to have

• Postdoctoral research experience.
• Previous experience in professional scientific editing.
