TL;DR

Senior Game Designer (Unreal Engine 5): Designing and overseeing level design for a AAA squad-based tactical shooter remake with an accent on combat arena design, spatial pacing, and squad mechanics. Focus on establishing level design language, mentoring the LD team, and ensuring high-quality gameplay readability and tactical viability.

Location: Remote (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Ukraine)

What you will do

  • Define and document the level design language and standards for the project.
  • Own the macro flow and layout direction to ensure cohesive pacing and mission progression.
  • Lead and mentor the Level Design team by reviewing work-in-progress layouts and providing structured feedback.
  • Review all levels for gameplay readability, cover legibility, sightlines, and squad pathfinding.
  • Partner with Game Design to validate navmesh quality, enemy behavior, and tactical viability.
  • Ensure all layouts actively support squad mechanics, including command zones and co-op play.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience in Level Design on AA/AAA PC or console titles.
  • Experience shipping at least one title with substantial ownership of linear or semi-linear level design.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, including Blueprint scripting and landscape tools.
  • Proven expertise in combat arena design for linear FPS or action titles.
  • Experience leading or mentoring a Level Design team.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.

Nice to have

  • Background in linear tactical shooters or squad-based FPS games.
  • Experience designing environments for co-op experiences.
  • Experience shipping a remake, reboot, or reimagining of an existing title.
