Location: Based in Nairobi, Kenya (Open to Kenyan nationals only). Starts fully remote with a potential shift to hybrid/co-working.

Salary: KES 6,458,797 - 7,750,556 per annum

What you will do

• Develop user interfaces for health workers using React and frontend frameworks optimized for low-bandwidth contexts.
• Build secure backend APIs and services for data ingestion, integrating data from DHIS2, Kobo, ODK, and IoT devices.
• Implement applied AI solutions, including LLM-powered features and chatbots for querying program data.
• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) and support DevOps workflows including CI/CD and microservices.
• Collaborate with programmatic teams to solve real-world health challenges through automation and intelligent data processing.

Requirements

• Must be a Kenyan national based in Nairobi.
• Bachelor’s in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in Python and a modern frontend framework (React, Vue, or Angular).
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases and cloud environments (AWS or GCP).
• Demonstrated experience integrating or deploying AI/ML models into production.
• Experience with ETL, orchestration tools, and AI/LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic).

Nice to have

• Experience working in resource-constrained or low-bandwidth environments.
• Hands-on experience with BI tools like PowerBI, Looker, or Tableau.
• Certifications in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7).
