TL;DR

Backend Engineer (C#/Java): Building event-driven solutions and democratising data access across technology teams with an accent on replacing legacy workflows with modern architecture. Focus on developing services and APIs, full software lifecycle management, and mentoring engineering teams in a fast-moving environment.

Manchester / Hybrid (minimum 50% of working time per month in the office; full-time office for new starters)

What you will do

  • Work with architects, data specialists, and engineers to build solutions democratising access to data and events.
  • Handle full software lifecycle responsibility.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and users to deliver solutions in complex, fast-moving environments.
  • Mentor engineers and agile teams to industrialise innovations.
  • Drive continuous improvement, refinement, and refactoring.

Requirements

  • Strong experience developing services and APIs using C# and/or Java.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Secure development practices.
  • Git-based source control.
  • Knowledge of CI automation systems such as Jenkins.
  • Agile/SCRUM experience, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, keen to learn.

Nice to have

  • Event streaming (Kafka, Kinesis), change data capture (CDC).
  • Messaging (RabbitMQ, SQS).
  • Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Solution and architecture design, TDD.
  • AWS (ECS, EKS, CodePipeline, RDS, CloudWatch).
  • Experience in e-commerce/financial services, GenAI tools like GitHub Copilot.
