Surfacing Artist (Animation)

TL;DR

Surfacing Artist (Animation/CG): Establishing the look and surface qualities for animated characters, props, and environments with an accent on texturing and shader development. Focus on creating high-quality UV maps, collaborating with CG modelling teams, and ensuring visual consistency across production.

Location: Hybrid (Madrid, Spain). Priority given to artists eligible to work in Spain or Europe.

What you will do

• Paint CG textures based on 2D design references to faithfully match the production style.
• Develop shaders for all CG assets.
• Create and optimize UV maps that adhere to pipeline requirements and asset complexity.
• Collaborate with CG modelling and background teams to resolve creative and technical issues.
• Submit rendered assets for review to ensure the desired visual style is achieved.
• Work with lighters and compositors to meet production schedules and deadlines.

Requirements

• Experience with Katana and knowledge of both photoreal and non-photoreal renderers.
• Production experience in animated features or episodic content (non-live action).
• Proficiency in Maya, Photoshop, and painting software such as Substance Painter or Mari.
• Portfolio showcasing mature, graphic stylization (e.g., Spiderverse, Arcane, Love Death & Robots).
• Eligibility to work in Spain or Europe.
• Ability to maintain high productivity in a fast-paced environment.
