Credit Specialist

TL;DR

Credit Specialist (Finance): Performing customer risk assessments and risk mitigation to minimize bad debt and maximize sales with an accent on financial analysis and credit limit establishment. Focus on managing order holds, escalating complex collection issues, and supporting monthly A/R reporting.

Location: Hybrid - Remote/Onsite in Tres Ríos, Cartago, Costa Rica

What you will do

• Conduct customer risk assessments using agency reports, bank status, and financial data.
• Establish and recommend credit limits based on authority levels and risk ratings.
• Manage order holds related to over-limit and aging conditions in coordination with Sales and Customer Service.
• Lead the escalation of collection issues and handle customer insolvency situations to minimize bad debt.
• Execute queries and assemble A/R reports for management and audit processes.
• Support the Credit & Collections Team Leader and provide guidance to junior staff.

Requirements

• University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related fields, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial credit experience.
• Fluent English proficiency.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
• Must be based in Costa Rica.
• Strong negotiation, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills.
