TL;DR
Staff Software Engineer (Vehicle Security): Define and drive secure-by-design architecture for Certificate Lifecycle Management and vehicle security infrastructure spanning ECUs, connectivity, and backend systems with an accent on cryptographic services, PKI hierarchy, and compliance with ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE WP.29. Focus on designing system-level crypto architecture, leading implementation reviews, and embedding security principles across automotive platforms.
Location: Hybrid in Milford or Warren, Michigan – expected to report to office at least 3 times a week. No immigration sponsorship (H1-B, OPT, etc.).

What you will do
- Define end-to-end security architecture for Certificate Lifecycle Management across vehicle ECUs, connectivity, charging, and central compute systems.
- Design cryptographic architecture including PKI, trust anchors, provisioning, rotation, and revocation.
- Lead design and implementation reviews for secure boot, firmware validation, key provisioning, TLS/SecOC communications, and access controls.
- Embed security-by-design into platform roadmaps and align embedded, cloud, and connectivity teams on unified trust models.
- Review supplier architectures, mentor engineers, and contribute reusable frameworks and security tooling.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 8+ years in embedded/systems/platform software engineering.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python/Java/Go; experience with AUTOSAR Classic/Adaptive, Embedded Linux, RTOS.
- Deep knowledge of vehicle protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SOME/IP, UDS, DoIP) and cryptographic services (TLS, IPsec, HSMs).
- Threat modeling, secure coding, code reviews; ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
