Hybrid role (50/50 onsite/remote) in Zagreb, Croatia

What you will do

• Lead onsite payment team in daily Agile execution and mentor members.
• Coordinate with senior engineers, architects, and CTO stakeholders to align output with goals.
• Oversee delivery of payment orchestration, gateway integrations, tokenization, smart routing, and multi-processor operations.
• Manage authorization and settlement pipelines, bridging legacy C/Perl with modern standards.
• Troubleshoot issues, perform hands-on coding, and optimize system performance.
• Translate technical challenges into business roadmaps and ensure PCI DSS/ISO 8583 compliance.

Requirements

• 6+ years with distributed payment systems and high-throughput processing
• 2+ years in payments domain, understanding lifecycle (authorization, capture, settlement)
• Experience with payment orchestration, gateways, tokenization, smart routing, retries, multi-processor.
• Knowledge of card networks (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), ISO 8583/SPDH, PCI DSS.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Unix systems, networking fundamentals.
• Upper-Intermediate English and native-level Croatian proficiency
• Strong collaboration and communication in Agile teams.

Nice to have

• Low-level C cores and complex Perl data-transformation.
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
