What you will do

• Own the presentation and technical implementation of language for each new Magic card.
• Partner with the Rules Management team to ensure cards adhere to current gameplay philosophies and historical precedents.
• Collaborate with game designers to refine mechanics and provide feedback during playtesting.
• Work with Worldbuilding and Game Design leads to align card names and flavor text with creative goals.
• Proofread materials for text errors, layout inconsistencies, and typographical anomalies.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience in technical editing, game writing, or comparable work.
• Mastery of MTG Comprehensive Rules (equivalent to Level 1 certified judge).
• In-depth knowledge of the Magic historical card catalog and specific card wording.
• Strong proofreading skills and high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Smartsheet, Microsoft Office (Word), Adobe Suite (Acrobat, InDesign), or Confluence.
• Experience judging Magic tournaments or events.
• Bilingual proficiency in Japanese.
