External Communications Intern (m/f/d)

External Communications Intern: Assist the External Communications team with book PR and corporate news with an accent on writing and distributing press releases in German and English. Focus on generating media coverage, coordinating press activities with authors and freelancers, and monitoring press results.

Location: Heidelberg - hybrid working model (Fixed term: 6 months)

What you will do

• Write and edit German and English-language press releases on books and corporate news
• Distribute press releases and book review offers to international media to generate coverage
• Coordinate work with freelancers, institution press offices, and authors on press activities
• Respond to journalist and press officer queries via phone and email
• Maintain media contacts, distribution lists, and monitor press coverage
• Update corporate websites using content management systems and prepare presentation slides
• Handle office organization, administration, and support internal/external/social media teams

Requirements

• Excellent English and German language skills (reading, writing, speaking)
• Science or liberal arts degree
• Journalistic skills including researching and writing on diverse topics
• Communications experience, preferably global
• Knowledge of international media landscape
• Organized approach and excellent interpersonal skills
• Interest in current social, political, and scientific events
