TL;DR
Operational Environment and Effects - Senior and Mid-Level Planner (Defence): Design, develop, and deliver advanced collective training activities for Combat Training Centre with an accent on operational, environmental, informational, and sustainment planning. Focus on creating realistic exercise scenarios, integrating functional effects, and aligning with training objectives across Tier A and Tier B roles.
Location: Townsville based personnel preferred (Australia); high performing remote candidates considered with up to 15 domestic trips annually to Defence locations.

What you will do
- Support design and development of realistic exercise scenarios and structured planning materials.
- Participate in planning conferences, workshops, and working groups providing subject matter expertise.
- Align exercise design with training objectives and coordinate activities during execution phases.
- Contribute to reviews, observations, reporting, and continuous improvement processes.
- Collaborate with planners, coaching staff, and stakeholders; understudy senior planners for Tier B roles.
Requirements
- NV1 (SECRET) security clearance minimum (NV2 preferred for some roles).
- Senior military planning experience: O6 (Colonel equivalent) for Tier A Lead, O5 (LTCOL) for Tier A Senior, O4 (Major) for Tier B.
- Demonstrated experience in formation-level or higher headquarters planning and collective training design.
- Ability to travel domestically (up to 15 trips/year) for planning and exercises.
- Strong communication skills for engaging senior Defence stakeholders.
- Experience in joint/multi-agency planning environments desirable.
