What you will do

• Consult and plan research projects with practical software applications in mind.
• Develop elegant, robust, and well-documented open-source software for ML methods in bioimage analysis.
• Collaborate closely with Funke group and Multimodal AI centre to support and shape new research methods.
• Share expertise through tutorials, presentations, and mentoring junior members.

Requirements

• English proficiency.
• BSc or higher in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Physics, Mathematics or related field.
• At least 2 years industry or research experience in software development.
• Experience with Python for scientific software and contemporary ML frameworks.
• Knowledge of modern software engineering practices (test-driven development, version control, CI, containerization).
• Knowledge of image analysis and deep learning methods.

Nice to have

• MSc or higher, or 3+ years equivalent experience.
• Expertise in Rust, C++, Java, GUI design, data structures, OOP, concurrency.
• Contributions to open-source, containerization, pipelining, deployment.
• Experience in scientific image analysis, biomedical imaging, high performance computing.
