Senior Software Engineer (Java): Leading the design and modernization of large-scale Java/J2EE applications for high-availability systems with an accent on legacy refactoring and database optimization. Focus on implementing complex features, solving root cause issues for mission-critical systems, and mentoring cross-functional teams.

Location: Hybrid (minimum of three days per week in the hirify.global office) in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Open for candidates in Cebu & Davao.

Salary: ₱100,000 - ₱150,000 per month

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, troubleshooting, and deployment of complex features within large-scale codebases.
• Modernize and refactor existing Java/J2EE applications to proactively manage technical debt.
• Lead incident response and conduct root cause analysis for systems requiring 99%+ uptime.
• Establish coding standards, conduct comprehensive code reviews, and drive monitoring strategies.
• Communicate technical concepts and incident updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience in Java enterprise development (Java 8 or higher).
• Strong expertise in J2EE (Servlets, JSP) and MySQL optimization for large-scale databases (100M+ records).
• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and MVC architecture patterns.
• Hands-on experience with AWS (S3, RDS, ECS), Git, Maven, and CI/CD practices.
• Excellent English communication skills for solution documentation and team collaboration.
• Must be based in the Philippines and able to comply with the hybrid office requirement.

Nice to have

• Experience or strong interest in Agentic AI for development workflows.
• Experience with Docker and modern container orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with Windows Server, PowerShell, Caucho Resin, or Apache Axis.
• Background in the automotive industry or Dealer Management Systems (DMS).
