Senior Data Scientist (Ecommerce)

TL;DR

Senior Data Scientist (PySpark/Python): Developing scalable data science frameworks and experimentation strategies for digital media analytics with an accent on causal inference, holdout/control tests, and automated pipelines. Focus on translating complex causal results into business decisions and building prototypes to optimize paid media growth.

Location: Hybrid in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This role does not come with relocation assistance.

What you will do

• Define the strategy and vision for data science solutions, driving them from ideation through prototyping to full production.
• Identify and solve impactful strategic business problems using statistical analysis and modeling methods.
• Design and interpret quantitative experiments to drive long-term strategic business decision making.
• Manage a broad range of stakeholders, from operational team members to directors, conveying complex analysis clearly.
• Build proofs of concept and prototypes to support the product vision within the Experimentation Tool.
• Mentor and coach peers and contribute to the data science community through trainings and community projects.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, preferably in software, product, or e-commerce.
• Fluency in PySpark and general Python.
• Strong working knowledge of statistical and hypothesis testing.
• Experience working closely with product teams and engineers.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to translate technical solutions into customer value and business impact.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of causal inference beyond A/B testing.
• Ability to understand scripts written in R.
• Experience building Python libraries/modules or working with APIs.
• Good understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts.
• Strong knowledge of reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau, Graphite, or Power BI.
