Senior QA Engineer (Web, Payments)
Company: Utorg | Full-time, 100% Remote
About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to own quality across our web-based payment surfaces — processing gateway, integrations and payment flows. You will drive testing strategy end-to-end and be the last line of defence before production in a regulated fintech environment.
What you will do:
Drive comprehensive testing strategies across the full SDLC — functional, regression, exploratory and acceptance testing of payment flows.
Own API testing and integration validation across payment processors, acquiring partners and internal services.
Design, review and continuously improve test documentation, checklists and QA processes.
Report, track and analyse defects with clear root cause insights — use Sentry, logging systems and DB queries to go beyond surface-level bug reports.
Collaborate closely with QA Manager, developers, PMs and designers to raise the quality bar on every release.
Stack you will work with:
API testing: Postman, Swagger, DevTools, Charles Proxy
Monitoring & logging: Sentry, Grafana, ELK / internal logging systems
Databases: SQL queries for data validation and trace investigation
CI/CD awareness: understanding of deployment pipelines and release gates
Bug tracking: Jira
Nice to have: Google Analytics, back-office systems, basic test automation (e.g. Cypress, Playwright)
Must-haves:
5+ years as a QA Engineer with a focus on web products — acquiring, processing gateways, payment APIs or similar.
Strong knowledge of client-server architecture, HTTP/REST, and payment transaction lifecycle (authorisation, settlement, refunds, chargebacks).
Proficiency with API testing tools and ability to work with technical documentation independently.
English B2+ and fluent Russian.
Nice to have:
Experience with KYC/AML systems and compliance-related flows.
Familiarity with merchant back-office and reconciliation interfaces.
Test automation experience as a plus, not a requirement.
Soft skills that matter:
Critical thinking, structured and precise bug reporting, and the confidence to say "not ready" when payment integrity is at stake.
