TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Payments & Billing): Developing core billing and payment infrastructure for an AI agent platform with an accent on high-volume event metering, token-based usage tracking, and distributed workflows. Location: Must be based in Sydney, AU (Hybrid: 3 days in office required)

hirify.global is a well-funded Series B startup building a unified platform for AI agents that automate workflows and decision-making for enterprise clients.

What you will do

  • Design and maintain billing infrastructure integrated with Stripe and Orb.
  • Own core payment and billing workflows, including usage-based pricing, metering, and invoicing.
  • Improve system reliability, observability, and data integrity across all billing pipelines.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance and engineering to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Elevate backend engineering standards through improved monitoring and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in fast-paced or startup environments.
  • Strong backend engineering expertise with proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and Python.
  • Meaningful domain expertise in payments, billing, or complex financial systems.
  • Experience with Stripe, Orb, or similar billing platforms.
  • Comfortable owning application code, infrastructure, and reliability considerations.
  • Must be based in or able to commute to the Sydney office (Hybrid model).

Nice to have

  • Experience with PostgreSQL and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Terraform).
  • Background in scaling systems for high-traffic SaaS or AI platforms.
