Devops Engineer (Gamedev): Maintaining high availability production systems for online games with an accent on stability and scalability. Focus on optimizing high performance/high traffic systems and improving automated development processes.

Location: Hybrid in Hamburg (St. Pauli), San Ġiljan, Malta

What you will do

Maintain high availability production systems, focusing on stability and scalability.
Analyze and optimize high-performance/high-traffic systems on OS & application level.
Spearhead tooling efforts by prototyping and fine-tuning new tools to improve performance and development life.
Support efforts to move from legacy-systems (GCE) to modern deployments (K8S, IaC, CaC).
Maintain and improve automated development processes and workflows.
Collaborate closely with game development, community, and product teams.

Requirements

Excellent skills in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and Configuration-as-Code (Ansible).
Excellent skills in Database Management (MySQL and PostgreSQL), Network Architecture, and Systems Administration (Debian/Linux).
Experience with high load/high availability systems and load optimizations.
Experience working with Hyperscalers (preferably Google Cloud Platform).
Knowledge of build systems, tech stacks, and tool chains.
Ability to communicate effectively and objectively in English.

Nice to have

Passion for video games.
Knowledge of multiplayer/PvP/online game development practices.
Good skills in Java or other high-level programming languages.
Experience working in an agile environment, preferably using Kanban.
