What you will do

• Architect and own robust backend systems powered by Elixir and Phoenix.
• Collaborate in small, autonomous project teams to own features from scoping to production rollout.
• Leverage AI tools and agentic coding workflows to increase development velocity and impact.
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure system scalability for enterprise customers.
• Contribute across the stack, including frontend tasks using React where necessary.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively within a distributed, asynchronous engineering team.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend specialization in a SaaS or startup environment.
• Practical experience with Elixir/Phoenix and PostgreSQL; background in Go, Erlang, or Clojure is also valued.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools for productivity and a willingness to operate in an AI-first development culture.
• Deep understanding of high-stakes, platform-critical system architecture and performance optimization.
• Must be located in the UK, Ireland, or the Netherlands for this remote role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
